Cymbeline “Bem” Culiat is a Scientist-Inventor-Entrepreneur.  Bem is a biologist with 45 years in molecular genetics, genomics, and cell biology. At Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), she discovered the NELL1-protein pathway in tissue development and regeneration. As co-Founder, President, and CEO of NellOne Therapeutics, a company developing products for healing skin, muscle, cartilage, lungs, and heart, Bem leads multidisciplinary teams supported by private investors and federal and state governments. Her 21 issued patents in 8 countries include NV1, a NELL1-variant with improved manufacturing, efficacy, and safety.

Multi-awarded Career. Bem has a B.S. in Cell Biology (cum laude) and an M.S. in Genetics from the University of the Philippines and a Ph.D. Biomedical Sciences from ORNL-University of Tennessee (Knoxville, UTK). The latter was completed as an ORNL and Hilton-Smith scholar with the Chancellor’s Citation for Professional Promise. She worked in the Human Genome Project as Alexander Hollaender’s Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellow. Bem’s achievements are recognized with 23 national/international awards from the Philippines and the US.

Compassionate Educator. Mentoring international students and creating new curricula, for example, the UTK Ph.D. in Genome Science and Technology, are Bem's legacy. She trained disadvantaged high school students to become competitive in college admissions at the Tennessee Governor's Academy. She served as a speaker-advisor for universities, community colleges, a Fortune 100 company, seminaries, and churches.


Dr. Editha Winterhalter is Interim Vice President for Business and Financial Affairs and Chief Financial Officer at California State University Channel Islands. She is also Associate Vice President for Budget and Strategic Business Operations at California State University, Northridge, where she has spent more than two decades leading strategic budget planning, financial management, risk management, and institutional initiatives that have advanced student success and organizational excellence.

Evangeline Rivera Powell is a nurse, healthcare executive, entrepreneur, and CEO and owner of Rockwell Healthcare. Beginning as a certified nursing assistant, she advanced through roles as a floor nurse, nursing supervisor, assistant director of nursing, and director of nursing, experiences that continue to shape her hands-on, people-centered approach to leadership.

Demee Koch is the Filipina founder & CEO of DE MOI, a Swiss luxury beauty brand and a leading voice in the Conscious Beauty movement. Raised in Cebu, Philippines, she was a state scholar at the University of the Philippines Cebu College of Business before beginning her career on the retail floor of one of Dubai's largest luxury beauty retailers. She then rose through retail, distribution, and brand-building roles across the Middle East. In 2007, after relocating to Switzerland and completing her MBA, she opened her own grooming lounge — the origin of DE MOI.

Isabelita "Lita" T. Manalastas-Watanabe was an economist, diplomat, and top-ranking banker. She worked at an international regional organization in Tokyo, promoting Japanese investments in the ASEAN region, then headed business for Asia and the Pacific, and later for Europe, Israel, and Africa, based in Tokyo and Rome, respectively.

When the right opportunity came, she resigned as First Senior Vice President of her bank, became an entrepreneur, and set up her own Japanese money transfer company headquartered in Tokyo. Her main remittance corridors are the Philippines, India, Indonesia, Nepal, and Vietnam, but she is now serving both outbound and inbound money transfers to and from around 200 countries worldwide.

Jacqueline “Jackie” Cezar Dela Cruz is a business leader, entrepreneur, leadership advocate, and passionate champion of women’s empowerment. Malve Peralta Ildefonso is an assurance principal in BDO’s Asset Management practice, where she serves as engagement leader and business advisor for alternative investment fund managers. This nonprofit strengthens educators’ digital skills and their responsible use of AI. Marily Mondejar is the Founder and CEO of the Foundation for Filipina Women's Network, and Publisher of the DISRUPT Filipina Leadership Book Series, now in its sixth volume. She founded FWN in 2001 with one mission: A Filipina Woman Leader in Every Sector of the Economy. Today FWN reaches Filipina women in 33 countries and has recognized more than 700 of them through the Global FWN100™ Awards as the Most Influential Filipina Women in the World.

An organizational and image consultant by profession, Marily developed the 7 Aspects of Image framework and the Image360® assessment, which measures Image Shown by the Manager against the Image the Job Requires. Her clients have included Fortune 500 companies and Cemex in Monterrey, Mexico. She was among the first practitioners of witness preparation for court appearances and depositions, working with insurers and physicians facing malpractice litigation. Natalie Garcia Lashinsky is a litigation partner at Husch Blackwell, a national law firm with over 1000 attorneys. She focuses on commercial litigation, product liability, and real estate matters in state and federal courts across the country. With over 18 years of experience, she has guided manufacturers, Fortune 50 companies, insurance carriers, and small businesses through every phase of complex litigation, from discovery strategy and depositions to pre-trial motions and trial.

Known for her creative advocacy and client-first approach, Natalie has defended complex claims involving product liability, mass toxic tort, pharmaceutical liability, premises liability, and construction defect. She works closely with medical and scientific experts to build winning strategies.

Beyond her practice, Natalie is a committed leader in the legal community, where she has served on the board of several organizations, including the National Filipino American Lawyers Association, Filipino Bar Association of Northern California, and California Women Lawyers. She is currently Chair of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School, one of the oldest educational institutions in the San Francisco Bay Area. She lives in Redwood City, CA with her husband, Matthew, and her two sons, Grant and Henry.


Dr. Patricia “Denise” Lopez is a Full Professor of Organizational Psychology at Alliant International University, where she teaches and conducts research in organization development and change management, leadership, work motivation and productivity, and team effectiveness. Born and raised in the Philippines, Denise moved to the United States to complete her PhD in Organizational Psychology at Columbia University in New York City.

Over the last 30 years, Denise has taught, trained, coached, and consulted with diverse managers, teams, and organizations in the United States and Asia-Pacific. She has authored several publications on leadership, employee engagement, and diversity and globalization issues. She has co-authored two bestselling books, “Lead, Motivate, Engage: How to INSPIRE your team to win at work” (2019) and “Lead, Motivate, Engage: How to INSPIRE Employees in Remote and Hybrid Teams” (2026), with Dr. Pearl Hilliard.

Denise is a board member of Leadership Education for Asia-Pacifics (LEAP), a national non-profit organization focused on the leadership development and empowerment of Asian Americans, and will serve as its Chair in the fall of 2026. Sheilani Cruz Alix (she/her) is a healthcare professional, jazz musician, and community advocate. She works with health management, government, and nonprofit agencies to help systems run more efficiently and compassionately, drawing on a background in data, strategy, finance, and leadership. She has a BA in Political Science and an MPIA in Pacific and International Affairs. Sheilani enjoys serving her communities in both the U.S. and the Philippines through work with a wide range of nonprofits spanning music, live arts, film, education, and youth leadership building.

A lifelong musician, Sheilani has released three albums and two EPs, teaches music, and performs regularly with her jazz group in the U.S. and the Philippines. Elena Mangahas is a Journalism graduate from the Institute of Mass Communications at UP Diliman, where she worked as a Research Associate for seven years. Like many of her contemporaries, she joined militant actions, taking to the streets to ignite an era of resistance to militarism and dictatorship. She joined the UP Repertory Company to stage original plays about the issues of the times. 

Alas, immigration to America beckoned. Elena, now retired, is a 34-year civil servant in workforce development. She managed an annual $3 million budget for a youth jobs program throughout the County. Elena’s workforce development experience includes a seasonal farmworkers’ transition program, a refugee entry-level jobs program, a welfare-to-work program with non-traditional career pathways for women, and youth jobs that include community leadership and service learning. As a community leader, Elena represented marginalized communities, minorities, and people of color. She helped the Filipino community in Stockton, CA. reclaim its contribution to America, particularly from the 1910s-30s. Trained in peace work with national and international peace and justice organizations, Elena became a long-term member of, and has joined, goodwill and diplomatic visits through the Stockton Sister Cities Association. Elena served as the Chairperson of the San Francisco-based Filipina Women’s Network in 2006, taking an active role in its sustained campaigns against violence against women and girls, and the ten-year staging of The Vagina Monologues, a Domestic Violence public awareness campaign.

Elena serves on the Governing Board of Little Manila Rising and is a lifetime member of the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS), both organizations dedicated to preserving Filipino American history. She volunteers as a docent at the FANHS Museum in Stockton. She is a 9-year Rotarian and is a Paul Harris Fellow.


Gene Alcantara has lived in the United Kingdom for over four decades, including four years in Poland with the British Council as Assistant Director. A licensed immigration adviser, he has a BA in Russian Studies and an MBA.

A former ABS-CBN correspondent, he co-hosted the award-winning show Juan EU Konek [Commission on Filipinos Overseas Migration Advocacy and Media awards in 2014, 2015 and 2021], and is currently a senior reporter for the online Pinoy Portal Europe.

He was the Founding Chair of the European Network of Filipino Diaspora (ENFiD) and the Philippine Centre UK, which organised the largest Barrio Fiesta outside the Philippines for decades.

He is a British Community Honors Awardee for his efforts to integrate and empower migrants. He was also the first to run for various political offices in the UK.

Alcantara published Filipino newspapers and magazines in the UK over the decades. A poet, short story writer, essayist, and translator, his translations of Russian poet Anna Akhmatova’s works were published in a book, “Mga Awit sa Huling Pagkikita” (Songs of the Last Meeting) by Savage Mind Publishing House Naga in 2024, reprinted in 2026.

Alcantara was awarded the Gawad Pambansang Alagad ni Balagtas in 2024 by the Writers' Union of the Philippines (UMPIL) for Essay and Translation.


Jason Chan is a distinguished corporate and civic leader whose two-decade career sits at the intersection of policy, advocacy, and community leadership. At AT&T, he serves as Chief of Staff to the President of the West Region and as Director of External Affairs, shaping national strategy for the company's engagement with Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) and LGBTQ+ communities. He partners with AT&T's State and Federal External Affairs and Policy teams to craft cohesive messaging on the company's most pressing policy initiatives. He has provided rapid-response thought leadership on issues from COVID-19 and wildfire relief to social justice.

With more than a decade of advocacy experience, Jason has driven AT&T's investment in underserved communities, expanding workforce development, career readiness, digital media, and entertainment employment opportunities nationwide.

Before AT&T, Jason built a formidable career in San Francisco city government, serving as Appointments Secretary to Mayor Gavin Newsom and Political Director for the Ed Lee for Mayor campaign.

He serves on the boards of the National Asian/Pacific Islander Chamber of Commerce and Entrepreneurship, the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies, and Equality California, the nation's largest statewide LGBTQ+ civil rights organization. Jason holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Golden Gate University and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from San Francisco State University.


Ambassador Junever Mahilum-West is a distinguished Philippine career diplomat whose service has spanned bilateral, regional, and multilateral diplomacy. Born in Surigao del Norte and educated at the University of the Philippines, she pursued further training in foreign service at Oxford University. Her diplomatic career has included assignments in Paris, Geneva, and Toronto, where she served as Consul General, as well as senior leadership positions at the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs.

As Assistant Secretary for ASEAN Affairs, Mahilum-West helped steer Philippine engagement in ASEAN and regional cooperation, including collective responses to emerging political, security, and development challenges. She subsequently served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Philippines to France, with concurrent jurisdiction over Monaco, and as Permanent Delegate of the Philippines to UNESCO. During her tenure, she advanced Philippine interests in diplomacy, culture, education, heritage, and international cooperation, including the Philippines’ successful campaign for a seat on UNESCO’s Executive Board.

Across her career, Mahilum-West has exemplified diplomacy as bridge-building—connecting countries, institutions, cultures, and people. Her leadership reflects a sustained commitment to public service, international understanding, Philippine interests, and the development of the next generation of Filipino diplomats


Rodel Rodis taught Philippine History and the History of Filipinos in America at San Francisco State University’s School of Ethnic Studies from 1972 to 1978. He later attended law school, passed the California Bar in 1980, and established his own law practice.

In 1988, Mayor Art Agnos appointed Rodis to the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, where he served as commission president for two terms. In 1992, he was elected citywide to the San Francisco Community College Board, becoming the first Filipino American elected to public office in San Francisco. He served on the board for 18 years, including three terms as president. In 2011, the San Francisco Superior Court appointed him to the San Francisco Civil Grand Jury, where he was elected vice chair.

Rodis co-founded the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA) and has served as its general counsel since 1997. He has also served as general counsel of the Philippine Nurses Association of Northern California (PNANC) since 1981. He also helped found the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California (FBANC) in 1981 and served as its president in 1983.

A longtime writer and commentator, Rodis wrote a weekly column for the San Francisco-based Philippine News from 1987 to 2003 and for the Manila-based Philippine Daily Inquirer from 2003 to 2019. He is the author of Telltale Signs of Filipinos in America (INA Press, 1991
