FWN Most Influential Filipina Women Awardees ONLY
INVITATION
The Filipina Women’s Network (FWN) invites FWN awardees, including both first-time and existing authors, to submit abstracts for the sixth book of the DISRUPT LEADERSHIP SERIES. This collection centers on Pinay leadership as a transformative force, shaping the futures of communities, institutions, and systems across local, regional, global, and diasporic contexts.
BECOME A PUBLISHED AUTHOR
Since 2014, the DISRUPT Filipina Leadership Book Series has amplified the voices of over 167 Filipina women leaders across 16 countries. Now, we invite you to join this legacy.
DISRUPT 6.0. Pinay Leadership Futures is the sixth book in our DISRUPT Leadership Series—and your opportunity to share your leadership story with the world.
“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”
This isn't just a book. It's a movement. A declaration that Pinay leadership is not emerging—it is already designing the future.
THE VISION
DISRUPT 6.0. Pinay Leadership Futures signals that Pinay leadership is not just emerging—it is already actively designing the future. It centers on Pinay leadership as a transformative force—shaping the futures of communities, institutions, and systems across local, regional, global, and diasporic contexts.
RECLAIMING 'PINAY'
Dramatic Progress Since 2001: Top search results for 'Pinay' now feature dictionary definitions, cultural empowerment sites, and legitimate academic resources—a stark contrast to the mail-order bride dominance of 2001 'Filipina' searches.
Cultural Reclamation Success: 'Pinay' has been successfully reclaimed as a badge of pride, particularly among younger generations using social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
Academic Legitimacy: The term now has Oxford English Dictionary recognition (updated December 2025) and extensive scholarly documentation.
WHY SUBMIT YOUR ABSTRACT?
“Some problems we share as women, some we do not. You fear your children will grow up to join the patriarchy and testify against you; we fear our children will be dragged from a car and shot down in the street, and you will turn your backs on the reasons they are dying.”

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for stories that go beyond personal narrative. We want reflection, analysis, and vision:
How does your leadership emerge from lived experience, culture, and identity?
What future are you actively working to build?
How do you exercise agency—individually or collectively—in shaping that future?
What will you pass on to the next generation of Pinay leaders?
Your abstract should:
Root your story in your lived experience as a Pinay leader
Demonstrate reflection and insight—not just a recounting of events
Discuss your leadership as practice, influence, and impact—not just position or title
Acknowledge the systems, structures, and power dynamics that shape your leadership
Articulate the future you imagine and your role in building it
AREAS OF EXPLORATION
We welcome abstracts exploring Pinay leadership futures in:
Public Service & Policy
Business & Entrepreneurship
Technology & Innovation
Education & Workforce Development
Health & Caregiving
Community Advocacy
Culture & the Arts
Faith & Civic Life
Guiding Questions to Spark Your Story:
What experiences most shaped how I lead and imagine the future?
What future am I actively working toward, and why does it matter?
How might I empower the next generation with the character and attributes to forge their own paths?
What tensions, contradictions, or lessons have emerged in my leadership journey?
What might my story offer other leaders across contexts—not just Pinay leaders?
TYPES OF CONTRIBUTIONS. Your chapter may take the form of:
Narrative — A compelling story from your leadership journey
Analytical — Examining leadership through a critical lens
Reflective — Deep insights and lessons learned
Practice-based — Case studies, community work, or research
We especially encourage contributions that engage with intergenerational leadership, systems change, and global/diasporic perspectives.
There is no single "right" form. Authenticity of voice and thoughtful reflection on leadership futures are what matter most.
